Consultancy

Each consultancy project is by its nature unique, and most are confidential. Therefore I can only explain my overall approach here, rather than give details of specific assignments.

The phases of a consultancy project are:

Entry and contracting
Data Collection
Diagnosis
Feedback and Decision making
Implementation

My approach is to take a partnership approach to each phase. By this I mean acknowledging that the client is involving me precisely because I have something to offer at the level of skill, knowledge, expertise or experience which the client is lacking. Likewise, the client knows more about his or her business than I do. Therefore we are most likely to succeed if we both take high levels of responsibility for contributing to the process.

Thus I will neither act as a yes-man, nor will I assume that my view is automatically the correct one, Rather I see my role as questioning and challenging, bringing a fresh perspective and an enquiring mind to the situation.

This applies to each of the five phases of a project outlined above and is explored thoroughly at the first, entry and contracting, so that all parties are clear about the nature of the project and the approach we will take to it - together.
